The Beach Company gets positive response in India

When Pri Shewakramani and Harshad Daswani decided to launch an online store for beach wear, they never thought that the idea would click well with the target audience in India, since beach wear is still at a nascent market in the country. Web-store ‘The Beach Company’ launched in 2012, offers beach and swim wear for men, women and children.

The company also sells in-house labels and for certain brands like Bodyglove, they are exclusive distributors in the country. For kids’, the collection on offer includes swimsuits, goggles, swim caps, travel items, travel footwear and ‘Learn to Swim’ items like life jackets, life tubes, vest, arm floats and other swimming accessories. Their women’s range extends to sunglasses, hats, sun care, floats, loungers, sarongs and kaftans. One can also shop for brands like Arena Swim, Charmante, Prelude and NM for swimwear and other accessories on their online store.

The company was able to register whooping Rs 1.89 crore in sales last year. Their product prices range from Rs 99 for a lip balm to Rs 9,700 for swimwear. The Beach Company is self-funded and the two partners initially invested about Rs 10 lakh in the start-up.
