US-based kids’ wear retailer, The Children's Place, that recently forayed into India through Arvind Lifestyle Brands, is looking to rapidly expand its reach in the country. The company plans to have 100 stores in the next four-five years with a capital investment of Rs 1-1.2 crore. The company is aiming for Rs 500 crores revenue target in India in the next four-five years as it grows the store count.

The company opened doors to its first standalone store in Orion, Bangalore, in August this year followed by two shop-in-shops at Shoppers Stop in Mumbai along with announcement of an online partnership with online kids fashion store Hopscotch.

The company said that it recorded 40 percent of its revenue from the six months to five years age group, a segment which is considered challenging by experts since parents don’t spend much on clothes during this period. The brand is retailing all products imported from the US at a lower price. On key products and entry point products the price is 30 percent lower than in the US. For other products, the price is 10 percent lower on average.
