Amid reports of its parent Rocket Internet looking for a buyer to sell loss-making fashion portal Jabong, British fashion brands Topshop and Topman has launched its Autumn/Winter 2015 collection in the Indian market through its platform.

In the past, Jabong launched international brands like Dorothy Perkins, Miss Selfridge, River Island, Sisters' Point, Burton, G Star Raw, Miss Bennett London, Tom Tailor and Bugatti Shoes in India. A large number of global fashion brands are taking an e-route to India keeping the stringent rules of FDI, infrastructural issues in the country at bay. Ecommerce also gives them an opportunity to test-market their product in the difficult consumer market.

The Global Design Director, Jacqui Markham of Topshop is smitten by the rich culture, traditions, textile history that inspires and gets depicted through the Indian designs. Markham also feels that exchange of design ideas between the the east and west is further enhancing and enriching fashion across the globe.

Topshop, which started its journey in 1964, today operates over 300 stores in the Britain alone. The brand also exports its products to over 100 countries. Globally, the company has collaborated with names like Christopher Kane and Kate Moss and the same strategy will be followed in India through more such associations and participation in fashion weeks.
