YKK holds groundbreaking ceremony for third India plant

Japanese fastening products manufacturer YKK, founded in Tokyo in 1934, held a groundbreaking ceremony on 25 September 2026 for a new plant in southern India, its third in the country. The ceremony, held at the ORIGINS Chennai industrial park in Tamil Nadu, was attended by around 40 participants including Jin Deguchi, managing director of YKK India.

The new facility will operate alongside YKK India's two existing plants in Haryana, northern India, bringing the company's technologies to serve both the domestic and export-oriented manufacturing markets. Through the plant, YKK aims to create jobs, contribute to the local community, and build a production system able to meet a wider range of customer needs.

The plant, located in the Tiruvallur district, represents an investment of 150 million dollars covering land, buildings, machinery and equipment. It will span a land area of 149,936 square metres and a building area of 74,658 square metres, with construction scheduled for completion in February 2028.
