Bibi Russel to promote Rajasthani khadi products

World famous Bangladesh-based fashion designer Bibi Russel plans to organize several fashion shows to showcase and promote Rajasthani khadi with modern day colours and designs incorporated into it. To kick-start the promotion, the first fashion show will be held in January 2015 at Bangalore.
Russel recently visited Bikaner, Jaisalmer and Barmer in Rajasthan on the request of chief minister Vasundhara Raje. Russel will make sure that the new khadi creations would be a blend of traditional and modern designs, for which a three-month research campaign has commenced under her guidance. She plans to develop designs that would appeal to the young. Khadi products will be made to lure youth and the products would be displayed online as well as big textile shows organized at the national level to attract more number of people towards khadi.
Data provided by Saurashtra Rachanatmak Samiti (SRS) says that total production of khadi in India has increased by 6.45 percent. In value terms, it touched Rs 811.08 crores during 2013-14. Sales gained by 5.82 percent and rose to Rs 1,081.04 crores from previous fiscal's Rs 1,021.56 crores.
