With new products lined up for the winter season, Blue Man is optimistic about business this season. “The season witnessed good growth in the month of October followed by an outright dip till mid November. Now there is a little surge. We are optimistic and expecting to cloak in growth at 15 to 10 percent this year,” says Sunil Kumar, Director, Blue Man.

After establishing a strong offline retail network, the company has tied up with Snapdeal and Myntra to explore the prospering online retail channel. Plans are in pipeline to expand its footprint into new territories like Gujarat.

What’s new for winters?

For the winter season, the brand has unveiled a line of jackets in pre-washing leather and knitted wool that are gaining popularity. Also jackets made up of velvet fabric and coats in jute fabric are doing well for the brand. “With comfort and style taking precedence, efforts are being made to integrate new fabricating techniques and manufacturing processes. Winter offerings have a high level of fashion,” explains Kumar.

Blue Man does a great deal of research and experimentation on every aspect of the product from colour to fabrication before it reaches the market. “This winter is more about florescent colours, we have introduced reams of tones in yellow, red, blue and green in our range of jackets and coats,” informs Kumar.

Brand’s retail presence

While the company does not intend to add new product categories because it is already falling short of inventory, it would pay more emphasis on eliminating existing bottlenecks. “This is why we are in the process of putting in place new machinery by next year to increase the growth rate to 30 percent,” avers Kumar.

Blue Man enjoys a pan-India presence through 400 MBOs, most of which are located in north and Northeastern India. “Every year, we see 10 to 15 percent increase in their numbers. There is immense space to grow but unless we are able to remove pricking issues, the pace we are expecting is unattainable. As far as exclusive outlets are concerned, we are not planning to get into that side of business for now,” he adds.

Though the company has covered majority of states and has a great hold on north Indian markets, it wants to explore untapped states like Gujarat. By next year, Blue Man plans to enter Gujarat. The company has tied up with Snapdeal and Myntra to retail online and push up sales.
