Increasingly creating merchandise to suit the sensibilities of today’s young consumers, Co-optex has launched 300 varieties of organic silk saris and T-shirts for the festive season around Diwali. The company is aiming for a sales target of Rs 365 crores during the season.

The Tamil Nadu Handloom Weavers' Co-operative Society, popularly called Co-optex, established in 1935, has a long and rich tradition in handlooms and a history that dates back over 76 years, even before India’s Independence. With ecommerce gaining pace in the country, even Co-optex, through its platform Cooptex.gov.in has been receiving good response to its range. Cotton saris are the highest selling ones among all the other varieties on offer.

About 2.54 lakh weavers are part of Co-optex that retails its products through more than 200 showrooms, including 60 outlets outside Tamil Nadu. Now the society aims to use technology to reach out to the rising number of customers looking for authentic Indian weaves. It is witnessing rise in orders for saris and shirts from Indian states as well as foreign countries. The company also interacts with its target customers through its Facebook page. Co-optex also recently inked an MoU with Flipkart to promote its range.
