Disney weaves its famous characters in Satya Paul collection

Disney India’s licensing arm has partnered with the eponymous designer label Satya
Paul that would soon unveils a line of saris, tunics and scarves donning
motifs like Mickey and Minnie Mouse and other Disney characters. The
American entertainment giant, with a presence in broadcasting,
film-production and licensing or consumer products in India, has been
working on building up its licensing portfolio over the last couple of
years. The licensing business spans four of Disney’s brands: Disney
Classics & Entertainment, Pixar Animation Studios, Marvel and Lucasfilm.
Their retail sales is pegged around Rs 1,000 crores. The Walt Disney Company, the parent of Disney India, is the largest retail character licensor in the world with 45 billion dollars (around Rs 2,78,500 crores) in character merchandising retail sales globally in 2013.
The new collection of clothes and accessories would be available at the 10 flagship Satya Paul stores across India till February, after which the company would contemplate upon creating a new collection. Producing a feature film like Khoobsurat , ramping up its focus on adult fashion, Disney is on course to recapture the imagination of the Indian children who grew up.
