Dream Theatre to launch Candy Crush merchandise in India

So far people are crazy about this game but developers of Candy Crush Saga, now plan to storm into the country to cash in on the popularity of the game by launching high-street designer clothes, handbags, shoes and candies under the Candy Crush brand. King Digital Entertainment, the London-based owner of Candy Crush, has signed an exclusive licensing deal with Mumbai-based Dream Theatre, to license and sell Candy Crush branded products across South Asia.

While Dream Theatre is in final stages of signing a contract with a leading Indian fashion designer for the collection, the name has not been revealed so far. In July, fashion designer Manish Arora had showcased a Fall/Winter collection for Amprapali jewellery inspired by Candy Crush. The company is also scouting for a confectionery manufacturer launch Candy Crush candies and confectionery products in India.

Candy Crush Saga, a video game developed by King Digital in 2012 on Facebook, and later as a mobile app for smartphones, emerged as the most popular game on Facebook last year, with over 46 million average monthly users. Candy Crush has been installed over 600 million times on Facebook and iOS/Android devices, and was the most downloaded iOS app last year.

With rights to licence for three digital properties: Candy Crush, Angry Birds and Talking Tom app, Dream Theatre aims to clock Rs 150 crores of retail sales within three years.
