After her successful debut as a designer with label Satya Paul, actor Shah Rukh Khan’s wife Gauri Khan has launched the second instalment of her collection for Autumn/Winter 2015 inspired by Mata Hari, a dancer, who also acted as a spy during the World War I.
The range includes saris and kurtas for evening soirees or resort wear, in trademark printed chiffons embellished with crystal elements, lace and resham embroidery. The star wife-turned-entrepreneur had earlier collaborated with the designer brand, which is celebrating the 30th anniversary, for an exclusive collection titled ‘A Tropical Wonder’.
Born on August 7, 1876, in Leeuwarden, Netherlands, Mata Hari was a professional dancer and mistress who accepted an assignment to spy for France in 1916. Later she was accused of being a German spy. She was executed by firing squad, after French authorities came to know about her double role.
