Online social marketplace GoCoop for weavers and artisans has unveiled the '#ILoveHandlooms' campaign to popularise handloom among the masses and also to support artisans and weavers. Through the campaign, GoCoop invites people to share their love for handloom by posting a photo or writing a story about a favourite handloom product they own.
Last year, on August 15,2014, GoCoop had launched the 'New Swadeshi Movement' initiative to reinstate pride in handcrafted products and to reintroduce the younger generations to handlooms. Even the Indian government recently announced 'National Handloom Day' and launch of ‘India Handloom’ brand to promote handlooms in India as well as on a global scale.
GoCoop currently works with over 200 co-operative societies and more than 60,000 weavers and artisans selling over 14,000 products through their online marketplace. The marketplace has 7,000 registered buyers including boutiques, retailers, brands, exporters and corporates buying and sourcing their bulk orders of handmade fabrics and crafts from the platform.
