Indianroots provides platform for Gujarat artisans

IndianRoots.com, an online marketplace for Indian fashion has partnered with Craftroots, an NGO run by Anar Patel, who has been actively backing Gujarat artisans. Craftroots has been helping the artisans with design inputs, fair wages and a marketing platform, while spreading awareness about these crafts.

Recently, Indianroots also tied-up with Banka Silk, a handloom brand from Bihar that is working towards the up-liftment of artisans of Banka district in Bihar. Started in 2013, leading online platform Indianroots, offers ethnic and handcrafted designer wear. The retailer aims to race ahead of peers over the next two years. At the moment, the platform has partnership with over 60 designers and products from almost 500 brands focusing on Indian fashion, apparel and accessories, including designer wear.

NDTV Ethnic Retail, which operates Indianroots.com recently got five million dollars (over Rs 31 crores) in funding from KJS group at valuation of 85 million dollars (Rs 540 crores) for the vertical. The company will utilize funds to build its logistics, marketing and delivery mechanisms, while planning to go deeper into the Indian market with its offerings.
