Is the mullet making a comeback?

Update: The mullet won't be making its comeback at this point in time - the story was purely part of the April Fools tradition.

For those of us who have lived through the '80s, the mullet may be the last thing we want to see coming back. Yet, the infamous hairstyle, which is short on top and long in the back, is slowly sneaking its way back into fashion, with celebrities like Miley Cyrus, Scarlett Johansson, Brad Pitt and others sporting it again - if in a slightly hipper version than the original or variations of it like Cristiano Ronaldo's fauxhawk mullet.

Also known as "business in the front, party in the back", nothing can faze those who sport a mullet. And the style has even inspired clothes, with the mullet dress (short in the front, long in the back) having left its mark long back.

Mullet may be here to stay

"It's the fashion equivalent of a mullet. It's party on top, all business and practical on the bottom" observed Cynthia Rowland, founder of the eponymous lifestyle brand when referring to New Yorkers' top-heavy silhouettes in the winter. And let's not forget the famously paired business suits with sneakers.

For some, like British model Edie Campbell, the mullet can even work magic: Her career took off after she spotted a Joan Jett-inspired mullet; she ended up opening Marc Jacobs' final show for Louis Vuitton in October 2013. (In case you were wondering, the female version is called the femullet.)

With that importent snippet out of the way, we can only wait and watch and follow Tommy Hilfiger's guiding principle "we don't take ourselves too seriously in fashion".
