Liva’s ‘D’Designer 2015’ in Surat draws top talent

Liva by Birla Cellulose organized the D’Designer 2015, a design talent hunt for budding fashion designers in Surat. D’Designer is a unique initiative by Birla Cellulose, a division of the Aditya Birla Group. In its third year, the aim of this talent hunt is to nurture young fashion designers and provide them a platform to showcase their potential in a crucial market such as Gujarat.

This year, the event received as many as 2,000 entries from across states. These entries were shortlisted through various rounds where participants were asked to create unique creations using fluid Liva fabric created with natural fibres by Birla Cellulose. Only the top 10 participants made it to the final round and displayed their collection made using Liva.

The event in Surat rewarded the efforts of number of designer students who participated in the hunt. The conference was graced by other eminent dignitaries from the fashion industry including ace designer Narendra Kumar Ahmed and Subhas Dhawan from F Studio. The event ended with a gala fashion-show showcasing collections created with Liva fabric, titled Delhi Meets Vegas, Life is a beach, Light & Shadow, Red Affairs and Gujarat Couture. Speaking on the occasion, Narendra Kumar said, “This initiative by Birla Cellulose is a great opportunity for our talented young designers to express their creativity and garner the experience they require before they leave to pursue their respective careers.”
