Hosiery products manufacturer Rupa & Co plans to establish its first manufacturing unit overseas in Bangladesh through a joint venture with a local partner. To begin with, the company’s board has decided to set up a wholly owned subsidiary in Bangladesh and though the plan of establishing a unit in Bangladesh is still in its nascent stages, it will be executed over the next few years. The plant will make knitwear items for the Bangladesh market.

The company currently has one wholly owned subsidiary, Imoogi Fashions, which makes and markets inner and outerwear items for kids. Rupa exports its branded products to Myanmar, West Asia and African markets such as Nigeria and Ghana. The company has several manufacturing units in the country at Kolkata, Tirupur, Bengaluru and Gaziabad. It also gets some of its products outsourced from local manufacturing units.

Rupa & Co was incorporated in 1985 in Kolkata as an innerwear and hosiery manufacturer. In men’s innerwear the brand has vests, briefs and drawers and its collection for women consists of bras, panties and camisoles, lounge wear and leggings. Immogi is a premium line for children up to 14 years.
