Globally acclaimed designer Sharbari Dutta has taken a break from the routine of designing for models and clients with her designs to create scarves for the runners of Tata steel 25K Marathon to be held in Kolkata. She is also the face of this fitness activity.

The stoles, that would flaunt the Sharbari Dutta imprint, will be made of silk and kantha work, hand designed and handstitched. The designer feels that scarves having traditional kantha work would be a perfect souvenir for the marathon runners of the city.

Known for adding creative elements of fashion to the mundane world of men’s wear, in Dutta’s work was initially called as ‘artwear’ instead of fashion wear. “When I started off in 1991, I did not have an identity. Yet people accepted my garments and my style after the initial reluctance. My creation is more of a creative quest for me. And the ultimate elation for me is in their acceptance and recognition,” she writes on her website.
