Designer Shruti Sancheti’s latest Summer/Resort 2015 collection,
‘Nomadistaan’ celebrates the New Age gypsies, belonging to cities, who trot
across the world. The collection in natural and sustainable fibres like
woven khadi, eri silk, matka silk, summer silk and
organic cotton is adorned with traditional, intricate tribal crafts,
surface ornamentation such as heer bharat embroidery,
kaleen or carpet weaving and beaded banjara work and
printing techniques like tie-and-dye, shibori , leheriya
, mothda , wax resist dyeing and block printing. The colours
vary from peaches, blush, tangerine, crimson red, rose pink, burnt orange,
ochre yellow, indigo blue to olive and marsala.
The range consists of flowy mix-and-matched pieces like midis, maxis, slouchy pants, tail jackets, long skirts, spliced skirts and saris. With an eye for exquisite traditional craftsmanship and impeccable detailing, Sancheti has received acclaim and accolades for her collections at various fashion events. She has collaborated with Maharashtra State Handloom Corporation, Ministry of Textiles to revive Indian textiles. Her label Pinnacle is retailed through many premium stores and online portals nationally and internationally.
