Designer Vineet Bahl has launched his new collection, ‘Through the Looking Glass’, on fashion entrepreneur and actress Pernia Qureshi’s website ‘Pernia Pop-up Shop’. The collection is western with Indian silhouettes and colours.
The collection has been inspired by Chinese embroidery. Interestingly, Indian embroidery was exported to China and years later it returned as Parsi gara ka kaam. The name for the exhibition has come from a similarly named exhibition in London. Bahl says that the colours have been chosen keeping young Indian customers in mind. The shapes, he informs, are flirty, feminine and affordable.
The idea behind getting Bahl onboard Qureshi’s site is to attract customers of all age group. Qureshi is herself a big fan of Bahl’s work and thinks of it as an honour to have his work displayed on her website. She believes it is important to associate herself with ‘people who are really inspiring’. Also, for others, especially those clued in about the latest fashion, will have access to the clothes on her website. She says, his ‘clothes are sober and elegant and will suit all age group’.
