Designer Yana Ngoba partnered with fabric designer, Nabam Aka to present ensembles made on loin loom, one of the oldest looms in the world, handwoven by weavers in Arunachal Pradesh at the London Fashion Week. Ngoba considered it as an opportunity to take weaves from the north-east on a global stage.
In keeping with people’s love for boho and gypsy trends in the UK, Ngoba displayed Northeastern tribal accessories, fabric and fine craftsmanship. She was a part of the London Fashion Week's off-schedule shows 'Fashions Finest' and showcased her collection on September 19, 2015 at The Grand Connaught Rooms in London.
The designer retails her designs under her label 'Yana in Style' with an aim to popularise heritage handlooms, woven fabrics and handmade jewellery and accessories made of hen feathers, agate, bamboo, cane, yarn, silver, brass and jute from the north east.
Nabam is an acclaimed designer from Arunachal Pradesh and works with a number of weavers in Itanagar. Their show was sponsored by Arunachal Pradesh government.
